Deanne Brewster

“Working with the raw elements of clay, pigments, and fire is my challenge and love.”
The magic of clay created a passion that has been with me since I made my first pot at an evening class in 1965. The sporadic pottery classes I was able to squeeze in over the next 33 years, during my career in the computer industry, provided my balance and therapy.

In the fall of 1998, my husband and I arrived in Prescott, Arizona to begin a new phase of our lives. We built a home with a studio where I was finally able to immerse myself in my long-standing love of working with clay.

My primary focus is functional and decorative mid-fire stoneware, hand-thrown on a potter's wheel, or hand-built.

Collaborations with artists working in other mediums stretches me in new directions. For the past 17 years Barbara Andress and I have combined her welded steel work with my clay, creating unique designs. Lynn Schmitt, a jeweler and I have also created collaborations in jewelry.

My formal training has included ceramics classes and workshops at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Sedona Arts Center, and Yavapai College.

Currently, my work can be seen in my studio by appointment and at Manifested Art, in downtown Prescott’s Bashford Courts.
